The Gold Medal Exhibition is the Scarab Club's oldest and most significant annual exhibition, held continuously for over a century. Open to all members in good standing, it is unthemed and open to all media.

We understand the value and resources that go into making this work. Because of this, we have raised our award values to recognize this effort and deeply appreciate those dedicated to creating.

Meet the Juror:
My name is Donna Jackson, and I am the creator of DMJStudio. It is my space and work where I create things that matter to me as a woman, a person of color, an urban dweller, and a global citizen. Most of my work and projects uses the power of art to tell stories about different communities in a visually impactful way. To give light to thoughts and ideas that live in the margin and background but have the potential of changing our world.

For the past 20 years, I have dedicated my design and project management skills to developing marketing and promotional strategies for urban libraries and non-profits. I have been a graphic/web manager for Detroit Public Library and Houston Public Library systems and a brand manager for Houston Public Library, Marketing Specialist at Plymouth District Library and now Head of Marketing and Communication for Kalamazoo Public Library. Currently, I am in my second year as Gallery Manager of the Scarab Club in Detroit. One of the oldest art institutions in the city.

Since 2013, DMJStudio has developed several projects, including:

 Doors of Opportunity; a traveling exhibition of doors transformed into art.  

 In Pursuit of Hope; a film on the 1967 rebellion. 

 Posters on Politics; a collection of posters from around the world focusing on global politics 

 Women Work Art Gallery, an online gallery focusing on the art and stories of

women.

 Soul of Black Folk – One of the first exhibition of all Black artists from Detroit Michigan and The Detroit Scarab Club

 YOU Belong: An exhibition on Belonging and what belonging means in a society filled with loneliness

 Color of Sci-Fi: A series celebrating representation of people of color in the future.

 Grand Gesture: A celebration of artwork on large scale displayed in public library

You may submit up to 2 separate pieces
You will be prompted at the end to pay an entry fee of either $25 OR $40 depending on your preference.
