Gilda Snowden Memorial Exhibition
Submission Deadline: March 6, 2026 | Juror Results: March 15, 2026
Open to Members & Non Members

The Scarab Club invites submissions for its annual Gilda Snowden Memorial Exhibition, named for the late Detroit artist and educator.

This is an unthemed, all-media exhibition, open to all artists.

The purpose of this Exhibition is to recognize the diversity and achievement of artists whose work shows creativity of concept, excellence of design, and expertise of media; to display these works to regional audiences, and to be an educational opportunity for students.

Who is the Juror?

Taurus (b. 1974, Kalamazoo, MI) grew up in a military family, living in various cities across the U.S. and Germany. After graduating high school in 1992, disillusioned by a fractured world, he would find a new sense of purpose through his mentor, artist Jon Onye Lockard (1932-2015).

In 1998, he moved to Detroit to study Fine Arts at the College for Creative Studies, receiving a BFA with High Honors in 2002. Taurus now mentors emerging artists while creating art that explores racial and cultural themes, continuing his lifelong journey of self-discovery and advocacy.
